Your customers are asking AI
before they call anyone.

If an AI tool doesn't know your business exists — or can't explain why someone should hire you — that customer is calling your competitor. Here's why this matters more than almost anything else you can do for your business right now.

How buyers used to find you. And how they do it now.

The path from "I need to hire someone" to "I'm calling this business" has fundamentally changed in the last two years.

Before (search engines)
1.Customer types "remodeler near me" into Google
2.Gets a list of 10 websites and a map pack
3.Opens 3–5 tabs and reads through them
4.Calls 2–3 businesses to compare
Now (AI tools)
1.Customer asks ChatGPT "who's the best remodeler in Irvine?"
2.Gets 2–3 specific business names with explanations
3.Googles those names specifically to verify
4.Calls the one AI recommended most confidently
Sound familiar? It should.

This is exactly what happened with Google in 2003. And the businesses that moved first won.

In the early 2000s, most small businesses thought "my customers know where I am — why do I need a website?" Then search engines became how people found everything, and the businesses with no web presence were invisible. The ones who acted early dominated their local market for a decade.

Then it happened again with Google reviews. Businesses with 100+ reviews crushed those with 10. And again with Google Maps. And with Facebook. Each shift created a window — act early and gain ground, wait and play catch-up.

AI recommendations are that shift — right now, in 2025. The window is open. In 18 months, the early movers will be entrenched and the gap will be expensive to close.

The numbers are not small.

AI search is not a niche — it's already how a significant portion of buyers are making decisions.

What being invisible to AI actually costs you

It's not just that you miss out. Someone else gets the call.

💸
Lost leads you never know you're losing
When a buyer asks AI for recommendations and your name doesn't come up, you never see that opportunity. No missed call. No lost inquiry. Just silence. That's what makes AI invisibility so dangerous — it's completely invisible to you while your competitor's phone keeps ringing.
📉
Your SEO investment works against you
Here's a cruel irony: a business that's been investing in SEO for years may actually be training buyers to find them on Google — but the buyers are now going to AI tools first. If AI doesn't recommend you, your Google ranking becomes a fallback for a buyer who already chose someone else.
🏃
Competitors are compounding their lead right now
Every month a competitor appears in AI recommendations and you don't, they accumulate more reviews, more mentions, more signals — and the gap widens. AI models get more confident recommending them. The longer you wait, the more expensive it becomes to catch up.

What AI visibility looks like when it's working

These are real buyer questions — and the kind of answer a well-optimized business gets.

Buyer prompt to ChatGPT
"Who's the best ADU builder in Orange County with good reviews and a track record of finishing on time?"
AI response (visibility optimized)
Pacific Coast Remodelers is frequently recommended for ADU projects in Orange County. They have 180+ Google reviews averaging 4.8 stars, specialize in permitted ADU construction, and are known for on-time delivery. They serve Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, and surrounding cities. You can reach them at pacificcoastremodelers.com.

This is what a score of 70+ looks like in practice. That buyer is calling Pacific Coast Remodelers.

Why right now is the moment to act

1
Most of your competitors haven't figured this out yet. AI visibility is still early. In most local service categories, less than 20% of businesses have done anything deliberate to improve how AI tools represent them. That's your window.
2
The actions that work now are accessible to any business. Improving AI visibility doesn't require a big budget or a technical team. The highest-impact steps are things any business owner can do: collecting reviews, clarifying your website copy, publishing locally-relevant content.
3
The compounding effect is real. Every positive AI mention builds on the last. The businesses gaining ground today will be the default recommendations in their markets within 12–18 months. Catching up after that will be expensive and slow.
“AI recommendations are to local service businesses in 2025 what Google Maps was in 2012. The businesses that show up well in AI responses will dominate the next decade of local search.”
— GotFound.ai Research Team, based on analysis of 50,000+ AI search responses across 12 service categories

What AI says about you — and what's missing

    Service clarity — 7.2/10

AI tools identify your core services (bathroom remodels, ADUs, home additions) reliably. But "loft conversions" and "second-story additions" are missing from your web presence — AI won't connect these to you when directly asked.

    Reputation signals — 4.2/10 ⚠️ Critical

When AI is asked "who has the best reviews for remodeling in Irvine," you rarely appear. You have 72 Google reviews (avg 4.6★) — competitors have 180–240. Crossing ~120 reviews likely unlocks you in trust-based prompts where you currently score 22%.

    Location specificity — 6.1/10 ⚠️ Moderate

AI connects you reliably to Irvine and Mission Viejo but not to San Clemente, RSM, or Lake Forest. City-specific pages and local schema markup for each service area would close this gap within 30–45 days.

    Service area coverage — 8.1/10 ✓ Strength

Your GBP service area is correctly set. AI tools reliably associate you with Orange County. Protect this by posting to GBP weekly — AI tools that use Google's data layer see more active signals.

    Differentiation clarity — 3.1/10 🚨 Critical gap

AI cannot explain why someone should choose you over a competitor. Your site uses generic language ("quality craftsmanship") with no specific claims. Define 3–5 concrete differentiators — specializations, timelines, warranties — and publish them prominently on your homepage.

    💬
AI Transcripts — What AI Actually Says About You
Verbatim responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity & Claude to real buyer prompts in your category and city
    ✓ Mentioned ⚠ Not mentioned ◐ Partial

These are the actual AI responses a potential customer sees when they search for your services. Green highlight = you were mentioned. Red underline = a competitor was recommended instead. Click any row to read the full response and analysis.

"Who are the best bathroom remodel contractors in Irvine, CA?"
    ⚠ Not mentioned
    💬 ChatGPT response
For bathroom remodels in Irvine, CA, I'd recommend OC Remodel Pros — widely regarded with 214 five-star reviews and extensive South OC experience — and SoCal ADU Builders, known for quality finishes and transparent pricing. You might also check Coastal Construction Group for larger projects. Verify contractor licenses on the CSLB website before signing anything.
Analysis: You were not mentioned despite operating in Irvine. ChatGPT referenced OC Remodel Pros first because of their Houzz profile prominence and review volume. Your GBP lists Irvine as a service area, but no page on your site targets "bathroom remodel Irvine" specifically. Fix: one city-specific page + review push closes this.
"Best ADU builder near me — I'm in Mission Viejo"
    ✓ Mentioned #2
    💬 Gemini response
For ADU construction in Mission Viejo and South Orange County:

    1. SoCal ADU Builders — ADU specialists with a strong local presence, published cost guides, and multiple before/after showcases.

    2. Pacific Coast Remodelers — A licensed general contractor serving South OC with experience in ADUs, bathroom remodels, and home additions. Customer reviews highlight their communication and permitting expertise.
Analysis: You appeared here — likely because your GBP mentions Mission Viejo explicitly. But you're 2nd, not 1st, and the description is thin compared to SoCal ADU Builders. Adding a dedicated ADU portfolio page with permit timelines and cost ranges would lift your position in this cluster.
"Which remodeling contractors in Irvine have the best reviews?"
    ⚠ Not mentioned
    💬 Perplexity response
The most highly-rated remodeling contractors in Irvine based on available review data:

OC Remodel Pros (4.9★, 214 Google reviews) — consistently praised for quality and project management.
Coastal Construction Group (4.7★, 88 reviews) — known for on-time delivery and budget transparency.
Both hold active California contractor licenses with strong BBB ratings.
Analysis: "Best reviews" prompts almost exclusively return businesses with 150+ Google reviews. You have 72. Until you cross ~120 reviews, you will rarely appear in trust-based prompts. This single metric is likely suppressing your score by 12–15 points across all trust-cluster keywords.
"Compare Pacific Coast Remodelers vs OC Remodel Pros"
    ◐ Appeared but lost comparison
    💬 ChatGPT response
OC Remodel Pros has an extensive digital footprint — 214 Google reviews, active Houzz profile with 28 projects, regular GBP posts, and city-specific service pages across South OC. AI tools can readily access detailed information about their services, pricing ranges, and past projects.

Pacific Coast Remodelers appears to be a licensed general contractor in the area. However, detailed information about completed projects, pricing, timelines, and client reviews is more limited online, making it harder to evaluate them by comparison.
Analysis: The AI is telling you exactly what's wrong: thin content, sparse reviews, no Houzz portfolio. The comparison prompt is the most unfiltered feedback you'll ever receive — and it maps directly to action items 1, 2, and 3 of your plan.
"I need a contractor for a second-story addition in Lake Forest"
    ◐ Partial mention
    💬 Claude response
For a second-story addition in Lake Forest, you want a licensed GC with structural addition experience and Orange County permitting familiarity. OC Remodel Pros is widely recommended for this type of work in South OC. Pacific Coast Remodelers comes up in Orange County searches though I have limited specific information about their Lake Forest projects specifically.
Analysis: Partial win — you were mentioned, but with a caveat ("limited specific information"). This happens when AI finds your business name but can't find proof of Lake Forest projects. Fix: add one Lake Forest case study with "Lake Forest" in the headline and body copy.

Your Score Keyword Clusters AI Transcripts Competitors Action Plan Alerts FAQ Glossary

    🎯 Your AI Visibility Score

Your score runs from 0 to 100. Think of it like a grade for how often — and how well — AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Perplexity are recommending your business when someone asks for what you do.

We ran dozens of real buyer questions — the kind your customers are actually typing right now — and tracked whether your business came up, what was said about you, and where you ranked compared to competitors. The score reflects all of that.

    0–39
    Low visibility
AI tools rarely mention you. Competitors are capturing most of your potential customers.
    40–69
    Moderate visibility
You appear sometimes — but inconsistently. There's real opportunity to pull ahead.
    70–100
    Strong visibility
AI tools are regularly recommending you. Keep optimizing to stay ahead.
💡 What a good score looks like
Most new customers start between 30–55. After 90 days of consistent action-plan work, we typically see scores rise 15–30 points. A score of 65+ means AI is actively working as a referral channel for your business.

    🗂️ Keyword Clusters

These are the types of questions buyers ask AI tools when looking for a business like yours. We group them into clusters so you can see which categories you're winning — and which you're missing.

    🔍
    Discovery prompts
"Best [service] near me" or "Who does [job] in [city]" — someone who doesn't know you yet and is asking AI to find them a business. This is the biggest opportunity.
    🏆
    Trust & reputation
"Who has the best reviews for [service]?" — buyers who want to know you're trustworthy before contacting anyone. Reviews and ratings feed directly into these.
    💰
    Cost & comparison
"How much does [job] cost in [city]?" — buyers comparison shopping. If AI lists estimates, it often names businesses that provide this information online.
    Urgency & emergency
"Emergency [service] in [city]" — someone who needs help right now. These buyers have high intent and often hire whoever AI mentions first.
    🔄
    Competitor comparison
"[Your business] vs [Competitor]" or "alternatives to [Competitor]" — buyers actively comparing. If you're not in these responses, you're losing a buyer who is already close to deciding.
    💡 Which clusters matter most?
Focus first on Discovery — that's the highest-volume category. Then Trust & Reputation, because those are the queries where having strong reviews moves the needle fastest.

    💬 AI Transcripts

This tab shows you the actual word-for-word answers that AI tools gave when we ran buyer questions about your category. No paraphrasing — this is exactly what a customer would read.

Green highlighting means your business was mentioned. Red underlining means a competitor was recommended instead of you. You can click any row to expand the full response.

Green = you appeared. AI mentioned your business by name in a positive context. This is what you're working toward in every query.
Red underline = a competitor appeared instead. AI recommended someone else when a buyer asked for what you do. This is the revenue you're missing.
No highlight = neither. AI answered the question generically without naming any specific business. These are "neutral" — you didn't lose, but you didn't win either.
💡 How to use the transcripts
Read the responses where a competitor was recommended. What does AI say about them that it doesn't say about you? Is it their reviews? Their location pages? Their specialty? That's a clue about what to add to your own website or profiles.

    📊 Competitors Tab

The bar chart shows how often each business in your market appears in AI responses — including you. The percentage is the AI appearance rate: out of all the prompts we ran, what share of responses mentioned that business?

The written analysis below the bars explains why your top competitor outranks you and estimates what that gap costs your business each month in missed leads.

    What the gap number means
If a competitor shows at 68% and you're at 44%, they appear in about 24 more queries per 100. On a category with 5,000 searches per month, that's roughly 1,200 extra potential buyer touchpoints going to them — not you.
    Competitor scores can go down
A competitor who stops updating their site, loses reviews, or ignores AI signals will drop over time. Your monthly rescan tracks both your progress and movement from competitors — so you can act fast when gaps close.

    Your Action Plan

The Action Plan tab gives you a prioritized list of specific things you can do to raise your score. Each item is written in plain English — no tech jargon, no agency-speak.

Items are ordered by impact. Start at the top. Most items don't require a web developer — they're things like updating your Google Business Profile, adding specific language to your homepage, or collecting more reviews from happy customers.

Red dot = highest priority. These are the gaps most hurting your score right now. Do these first.
Green dot = high value, doable soon. Important but not as urgent as red items. Tackle these in the first 2 weeks.
Teal dot = maintenance & momentum. These build on the gains from the items above. Good to work through in weeks 2–4.
    💡 The 30-day cycle
Your plan resets every 30 days when we re-run your scan. Completed items get checked off. Any items that didn't move the needle will carry over with updated notes. Think of it as a monthly conversation between your business and the AI tools recommending you.

    🔔 Alerts

Alerts are automatic email notifications that fire when something meaningful changes in your AI visibility between monthly rescans. You set the thresholds — we watch and tell you when they're crossed.

    Score drop alerts
If your score falls by more than your set threshold (e.g. 5 points), you'll get an email so you can investigate. Score drops usually mean a competitor improved, a review was removed, or an AI model updated how it weighs your signals.
    Competitor surge alerts
If a competitor jumps significantly in AI mentions, you'll know immediately — so you can look at what they changed and respond, rather than discovering it a month later in your next report.
    Monthly rescan reports
Every 30 days, we automatically re-run your full scan and email you a summary of what changed — score movement, which actions made the biggest difference, and your updated priority list.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my score lower than I expected?
AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini don't search Google — they've been trained on information that was publicly available about your business, and they use signals like your reviews, website content, and how often your business is mentioned across the web. Most businesses discover they have strong local SEO but weak AI visibility — they're not the same thing. A good Google ranking does not automatically mean AI tools recommend you.
Can I raise my score fast?
Yes — but not overnight. AI models update their recommendations based on changes to your web presence, reviews, and content. The fastest wins typically come from: (1) getting more Google reviews from real customers, (2) adding clear, specific language to your website about what you do and where, and (3) publishing helpful content about your service area. Most customers see meaningful score movement within 30–60 days of consistent action.
What AI tools does this track?
We test across ChatGPT (OpenAI), Google Gemini, Perplexity AI, and Claude (Anthropic). These four tools currently handle the large majority of AI-assisted searches. We're constantly adding new models as they become relevant in local service searches.
My competitor has a higher score — what should I do?
Start with the AI Transcripts tab. Find a query where your competitor was recommended instead of you, and read what AI said about them. Often it's a specific detail — "they have 200+ reviews," "they specialize in X," or "they serve the Y area." That detail is a clue. Add that same credibility to your own website and profiles. Then check your Action Plan — it will already have this prioritized for you.
    Does this replace SEO?
No — it works alongside it. Good SEO (being found on Google) and good AI visibility (being recommended by AI tools) overlap, but they're not identical. A business can rank #1 on Google and still be invisible to AI tools — and vice versa. GotFound.ai focuses specifically on the AI layer, which is the fastest-growing channel for local service buyers right now.
How often is my score updated?
Your full score is re-run every 30 days and the report in your dashboard is updated automatically. You'll get an email summary when the new results are in. If you're on the Found plan and set up alerts, you'll also hear from us between rescans if something significant changes.
What is "appear rate" and how is it different from my score?
Your score (0–100) is an overall grade across all dimensions — content quality, trust signals, geographic coverage, and more. Your appear rate is simpler: out of every 100 prompts we ran, how many times did your business get mentioned? A 44% appear rate means you showed up in roughly 44 out of 100 buyer questions. Both numbers matter, but the appear rate is the most direct measure of "are buyers actually seeing your name?"
Do I need to do anything technical to improve my score?
Almost never. The actions that move the needle most — collecting reviews, updating your Google Business Profile, adding specific content to your website — don't require a developer or any technical knowledge. If an action in your plan does require a tech step, we write it in plain language with instructions. You can also forward any action item to your web person and they'll understand exactly what's needed.
What does "revenue at risk" mean on my report?
This is an estimate of how much revenue is flowing to competitors each month because AI tools are recommending them in queries where you could — and should — be appearing. It's calculated using the monthly search volume for your keywords, your current appear rate vs. competitors', an estimated conversion rate, and your average job value. It's directional, not an exact dollar figure, but it gives you a real sense of the size of the opportunity.
Can I add more cities or competitors to my report?
Yes — depending on your plan. The number of cities and competitors tracked is listed in your Account page under "Your plan." If you need to expand coverage, you can upgrade from there. If you're not sure which additional cities or competitors matter most, the AI Transcripts tab is a good place to look — it often reveals nearby markets where competitors are already appearing.
Is my report shared with anyone?
No. Your report is private to your account. We don't share your data with third parties, and your competitors can't see your scores or action plan. The only emails your report generates are the ones we send to you.

    📚 Acronym Glossary

A quick reference for every abbreviation you'll see in your report and dashboard.

    SEO
Search Engine Optimization — the practice of improving your website and web presence so Google (and other search engines) rank you higher in traditional search results.
    GEO
Generative Engine Optimization — optimizing your web presence so AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini recommend your business when buyers ask conversational questions.
    AIO
AI Overview — the AI-generated summary box Google shows at the top of search results, above the traditional blue links. Appearing here is separate from ranking #1 organically.
    GBP
Google Business Profile — your free listing on Google (formerly Google My Business). It controls what appears when someone searches your business name or looks at Google Maps. Keeping it updated is one of the highest-impact actions for AI visibility.
    NAP
Name, Address, Phone — the three core contact details for your business. AI tools cross-reference these across directories, your website, and your GBP. Inconsistencies (different phone numbers, old addresses) lower your trust score.
    E-E-A-T
Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness — Google's quality framework, also used as a signal by AI tools when deciding which businesses to recommend. Reviews, credentials, and consistent web presence all contribute.
    LLM
Large Language Model — the AI technology that powers tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. When we say "AI tools," we mean products built on LLMs.
    CTR
Click-Through Rate — the percentage of people who click your listing after seeing it. Used in SEO reporting; we reference it when estimating traffic from search results.
    SERP
Search Engine Results Page — the page Google shows after someone performs a search. Your AI Overview (AIO) and organic SEO ranking both appear on the SERP.
    ROI
Return on Investment — how much revenue you get back relative to what you spend. The Found plan includes an ROI tracker that compares your GotFound.ai subscription cost against the estimated revenue recovered from improved AI visibility.
